Packaging & label design

Complete packaging design: from idea to print-ready artwork

A design that looks right on screen but prints in the wrong colour, or a box where the text lands on a fold: the fault sits in the gap between designer and printer. HQPAK does both. We design labels, paper boxes and bags to your brand identity, build the dieline and 3D mockup, prepare the print file and make test samples before production.

What the complete packaging design service includes

Six connected services, handled by one team from the first sketch to the final print sheet. Choose the full package or only the part you are missing.

Packaging & label design

Fabric labels, hang tags, self-adhesive labels, paper boxes and bags, designed to your brand identity and carrying the mandatory information for each market you sell in.

Dielines and die-cut tooling

Flat drawings with cut lines, fold lines and glue flaps built to your product's exact dimensions, so the box folds up snugly and the print sits in the right place.

3D mockups

See the box, bag or label like the real thing from every angle before a single sheet is printed; reuse the images in sales presentations, catalogues and web pages.

Print-ready artwork (prepress)

Colour separation, bleed, overprint handling, Pantone conversion, font and resolution checks. The file goes to the press and runs, without repeated corrections.

Consistent branding across the set

Labels, hang tags, boxes, bags and printed foam share one colour system, fonts and layout, so customers recognise your brand the moment they open the carton.

Test samples & print cost advice

Real printed samples to approve colour and material, plus advice on print layout, number of colours and materials so the design looks good and prints economically.

Why packaging design so often fails at the print stage

Most packaging problems do not come from the idea, but from the gap between designer and printer. A design is approved on screen and sent to the factory, and only then does someone notice that the brand red prints as orange, the logo near the edge is trimmed, the barcode is too small for a scanner, or the main line of text falls right on the fold. Each correction means another round of files, another wait for a proof, and a missed launch date.

The second case is just as familiar: every packaging item is made in a different place. One designer for the label, one workshop for the box, another for the bag. It is one brand with three reds and two typefaces, and the end customer sees the inconsistency the moment they open the carton.

HQPAK designs with a printer's mindset

Our core strength is creative technology, handling a wide range of requirements and order sizes to your brand's quality requirements. Because our design team works alongside the digital, flexo and offset printing lines, every decision on the artwork already considers how it will be printed, cut and folded. Our packaging design service therefore goes beyond a good-looking picture:

  • Label and packaging design to your brand identity: fabric labels, hang tags, self-adhesive labels, bags and boxes designed from one set of colour, font and logo standards.
  • Paper box design on a real dieline: the die-cut drawing is built to your product's dimensions, with glue flaps, tuck flaps and bleed areas worked out before any artwork is placed. See the paper boxes HQPAK supplies.
  • 3D mockups: you see the packaging like the real thing, approve faster, and have images ready for sales before the first batch is produced.
  • Print-ready artwork (prepress): colour separation, bleed, overprint on black text and fine lines, conversion of brand colours to Pantone or CMYK to suit the material, and checks of barcode and QR size and scannability.
  • Consistency across the whole set: labels, hang tags, boxes, polybags and PE foam printed with your logo share one visual language.

Lowering print cost from the artwork stage

Print cost is largely decided at the design desk, not in the factory. HQPAK asks three questions before a design is finalised:

  • Print layout: can the box or label size be laid out efficiently on the sheet or roll width? A few millimetres of difference can waste part of a sheet.
  • Number of colours: does the design really need an extra spot colour, or does CMYK get there? One colour fewer is one plate fewer and one less colour match.
  • Material and finishing: paper, self-adhesive stock, film, lamination and foil: choose what the product positioning needs instead of defaulting to the most expensive option.

You receive options with a quotation to compare, and decide the balance between brand image and budget yourself.

Our 5-step packaging design process

  1. Brief: you send your logo, brand guidelines, product information and dimensions, target market, expected quantity and references. Hand sketches or photos are enough.
  2. Concept: the design team presents a direction that follows your brand identity, with a recommended material and printing method for your quantity.
  3. Mockup approval: the concept is built on the dieline and a 3D mockup; you comment and revise until it is final.
  4. Print file and test sample: the prepress file is prepared and a real sample is printed to approve colour, material and size; boxes and foam inserts are trialled with your real product.
  5. Production: the approved file goes straight into production, so you do not send files to each printer yourself, and the approved sample is kept as the reference for reprints.

Who it is for

New brands that need a consistent packaging set from day one; factories that must redo labels to a foreign customer's requirements; companies that already have artwork but want it standardised so prints are stable between batches. HQPAK serves customers across Vietnam and export orders for international markets; the brief and design approval are handled online, so distance is not an obstacle.

Once the design is done, the packaging can be supplied as a complete set for your industry: apparel packaging, electronics packaging, FMCG packaging or export packaging, and delivered within Vietnam by HQ Xpress trucks when you need it.

Frequently asked questions

We have no artwork yet. Can HQPAK design our packaging from scratch?

Yes. Send your logo, brand guidelines if you have them, product information and a few references you like. The design team develops a concept that follows your brand identity and builds a mockup for your approval before preparing the print file.

What is a dieline, and why is it needed first?

A dieline is the flat drawing of a box, label or bag, showing cut lines, fold lines, glue flaps and bleed areas. When the artwork is placed on the dieline, the box folds up correctly, text does not fall on a fold and the logo is not trimmed off.

We already have artwork. Does HQPAK check it before printing?

Yes. We check bleed, image resolution, fonts, colour mode, overprint and Pantone colours. Any issue that would affect the print is reported or corrected before you approve printing, so a whole run is not spoiled.

Do you make test samples before mass production?

Yes. You approve a 3D mockup to judge the overall look, then a real printed sample to check colour, material and size. For paper boxes and foam inserts, samples are tested with your real product before the production run.

Can design help lower print cost?

It can, significantly, if it is considered from the start. The print layout is planned to save material, the number of colours is optimised, and materials and finishing are chosen to suit the product's positioning. You receive options with a quotation so you can compare them.

Can customers elsewhere in Vietnam or overseas work with you?

Yes. The brief, concept review, mockup approval and artwork approval are all handled by email or online meetings. Test samples are sent to you for approval before production, and HQPAK serves customers across Vietnam and abroad.
