Printed labels and woven labels: what is the difference?
In the market, "fabric label" is often used for two products that are made in completely different ways. Knowing the difference helps you pick the right type and budget from your first order.
Printed fabric labels are printed with ink on ready-woven ribbon such as satin, taffeta or cotton, using flexo, digital or screen printing. Small text stays sharp, many colours are possible, content is easy to change and the cost is reasonable, which is why most care labels, composition labels and size labels on garments are printed. This is HQPAK's main production strength.
Woven labels are not printed. The logo and text are formed by coloured threads interlaced directly on a loom, so the image is part of the fabric structure: textured, extremely durable and premium in feel. Woven labels suit neck logo labels, waistband labels and bag labels. HQPAK takes orders for woven labels as a complete package, so you can bring all your garment labels under a single contact.
Fabric label materials HQPAK prints
| Material | Characteristics | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Polyester satin | Soft, glossy surface, wash-durable | Main labels, neck labels, premium care labels |
| Acetate satin | Smooth sheen, drapes well | Brand labels for premium lines |
| Nylon taffeta | Thin, tough, survives repeated washing | Care labels and composition labels for export garments |
| Polyester taffeta | Flat, stiffer than satin, prints barcodes clearly | Size labels, barcode labels, PO labels |
| Cotton | Natural, absorbent, gentle on skin | Children's wear, sleepwear, natural product lines |
Flexo or digital: which is more economical?
Flexo printing uses polymer plates and runs at high speed, so the unit cost drops sharply on large quantities. It suits seasonal labels produced in volume. Digital printing prints straight from the file with no plates, which is ideal for small orders, market tests, or labels with data that changes by style (barcodes, PO numbers, sizes). For single-colour black care labels, thermal transfer printing is an economical choice. Just tell us the quantity and HQPAK will work out and recommend the printing method with the lowest total cost.
Ordering printed fabric labels in 5 steps
- Send your request: artwork or a sample label, size, preferred material, fold style and quantities by size and colour.
- Receive a quotation within 24 hours of full specifications: HQPAK quotes with a recommended material and printing method that fits your budget.
- Prepress and sample approval: the prepress team builds the file, checks text and care symbols and sends a proof; we print a physical sample when you need to check the feel of the fabric.
- Production and inspection: printing and cut-and-fold at our Hung Yen factory, with colour, content and size checked before packing by style.
- Delivery: 3-7 working days after sample approval for standard orders, delivered across Vietnam; export shipment timing is confirmed in the quotation, and rush orders are agreed separately to meet your sewing schedule.
Garment labels for each type of customer
Contract garment factories and export apparel manufacturers
Multilingual care labels, composition labels, size labels and barcode labels per PO demand absolute accuracy and on-time delivery. HQPAK prints wash-durable taffeta and satin, packed separately by style and size so the sewing line can use them straight away with fewer mix-ups.
Fashion brands and local brands
The main label is your brand's signature on the product. Soft satin with a sharp logo, or a textured woven label for premium lines, combined with hang tags in the same colour palette for a consistent identity.
Children's wear, underwear and sleepwear
Cotton or soft satin is the priority, with folded edges so the label does not irritate the skin and clear care content. A small detail, but one that shapes the wearer's experience.
Bedding, furniture, bags and footwear
Tough taffeta or polyester labels that resist abrasion, printed with material information and care instructions for larger or longer-lasting products.
Tips for durable, compliant label design
- Leave a seam margin: keep clear space at the sewn edge or fold so the stitching does not run over the text.
- Avoid very fine lines: very small text and thin strokes can blur or break up on a woven surface; let the prepress team check them first.
- Use market-standard care symbols: for export garments, use the care symbol set required by the destination market and your buyer.
- Vector files, Pantone colours: send AI, PDF or CDR with text converted to outlines so colour and shape are right the first time.
- Combine sizes and colours: ordering several sizes and designs together makes better use of plate cost and time.
What affects the cost of printed fabric labels
There is no fixed figure for fabric labels because the cost depends on several variables: quantity, size, ribbon type, number of colours, single or double-sided printing, cut and fold style, printing technology and the number of designs in the order. The quickest way to get an exact quotation is to send your specifications through the quotation request form. HQPAK replies within 24 hours of receiving full specifications.

Frequently asked questions
What does the cost of printed fabric labels depend on?
The cost depends on quantity, size, ribbon material (satin, taffeta or cotton), number of colours, single or double-sided printing, cut and fold style, and printing technology. The larger the order, the lower the unit cost. Send your artwork or a description with the expected quantity to HQPAK and we will return a detailed quotation within 24 hours of receiving full specifications.
What is the minimum order quantity for fabric labels?
HQPAK does not set a hard minimum for every design. Small orders are printed digitally, with no plate cost; larger orders move to flexo for a better unit cost. Tell us your expected quantity and our sales team will suggest the most economical option.
How long does it take to receive fabric labels?
Standard orders take 3-7 working days after sample approval, depending on quantity and complexity. Export shipment timing is confirmed in the quotation. Rush orders can be arranged separately. For woven labels, HQPAK confirms the delivery time when the order is confirmed.
Should I choose satin, taffeta or cotton labels?
Satin is soft, glossy and upscale, a good fit for main labels and neck labels. Taffeta is thin, tough and wash-resistant, suited to care labels, composition labels and size labels. Natural cotton is gentle on the skin and suits children's wear and natural product lines. If you need a raised, textured logo and the highest durability, choose a woven label.
How should I prepare my artwork?
Vector files in AI, PDF or CDR are best, with text converted to outlines, Pantone colours and the finished size clearly marked. If you only have a logo, a photo of an old label or the text content, the HQPAK prepress team will build the file and send a proof for approval before printing.
Does HQPAK print multilingual care labels for export garments?
Yes. HQPAK prints multilingual care and composition labels with care symbols, size labels and barcode labels from the content you provide. Data that changes by style can be printed digitally within the same order.
Where does HQPAK deliver fabric labels?
HQPAK delivers fabric labels to garment factories and fashion brands across Vietnam and supports export orders to international markets. Goods ship through the carrier or logistics company you nominate, in time for your sewing schedule.
